Mission Codename Ivo-lution
Very few authorized wine merchants have today’s brilliant 2013 Grgich Merlot, but The Wine Spies were graced with a small allocation.
Grgich winemaker, Ivo Jeramaz, learned his craft from the master himself, his famous uncle, Mike Grgich. Ivo carries on the tradition of crafting some of the best Napa Valley wines available.
Unexpectedly dark and rich on the nose, with grilled blackberry, coffee bean, chocolate, raspberry candy, black licorice, subtle spice box and a hint of pepper.
Bold and rich on the palate, with layers of flavor of blackberry preserve, black cherry, black licorice, blackberry pie, espresso, dark cocoa dust, spice and cracked pepper.
Today’s wine is in limited supply and we do expect to sell out, so please be sure to reserve yours soon.
Cheers, Operatives!

Here’s what the wine press has to say:
90 points - Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast - “Brawny and concentrated in black fruit, this wine includes 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and is touted as a Cab-lover’s Merlot by the winery. It indeed is, with its juicy blackberry, cherry, espresso and clove notes, while remaining varietally correct in terms of its mellowed tannins.”
