Mission Codename Ruler of the Roost
Today’s Bonterra Vineyards 2012 Blue Heron Vineyard Mendocino County “The Roost” Chardonnay is an impressive, SUPER QPR (Quality to Price) wine that took our recent tasting panel by storm.
Everyone loved this wonderful wine.
Many on the panel drew parallels between this wine and Rombauer, citing far better value in today’s Roost. At 33% off, the final price makes this wine a real steal.
Fresh, bright and lively on the nose, with a fragrant mixed citrus, wet river rock, green apple, apricot, white peach, fresh baked bread, subtle custard, subtle white spice and fresh oak.
Bright and fresh on the palate, with green apple, young peach, young apricot, river rock, mixed white spice, almond, subtle butterscotch and white pepper.
30 year old Bonterra was 2016’s Wine Enthusiast Magazine’s own American Winery of the Year. They earned this distinction by producing some of the most consistently superb wines in America.
Note that this wine is expected to sell out. In fact, this wine is sold out in most places, including at the winery itself.
Enjoy!!

Here’s what the wine press has to say:
92 points - Jim Gordon, Wine Enthusiast - “A buttery aroma leads to rich butterscotch flavors and a buttery finish, too. But then there’s more with each sip. The wine is dry but easy on the palate, and reveals tasty apple, almond and toasted walnut flavors with time. These all add complexity and lift it well above the ordinary. Made with certified Biodynamic grapes.”

91 points - Wilfred Wong - “The Roost 2012 Chardonnay by Bonterra - from the Biodynamic Blue Heron Vineyard-is an excellent effort. The wine exhibits dried peach, core apple, and creamy oak aromas and flavors. Attractive and sophisticated on the palate, it finishes with loads of lively fruit and sweet oak. Drinks well now.”
