About the historic Mt. Eden Pinot Noir Clone:
This rare clone was first brought to California in the late 19th century by Paul Masson. Mister Masson, who grew up in Burgundy, brought cuttings to the US from one of Louis Latour’s fabled Burgundian vineyards.
The Mt. Eden close is one of the oldest Pinot Noir clones in America. This clone is prized by winemakers, who enjoy it for the richness of flavors and evenly-ripening fruit that it produces. The clone is similar to the more widely planted Pommard clone.
Wines made from the Mt. Eden clone frequently find themselves on many a “Best Of” list.
Enjoy!

Here’s what the wine press has to say:
94 points - PInotFile - “Moderately light reddish purple color in the glass. Striking aromas of fresh strawberry, cherry and sandalwood lead to a light to mid weight core of intensely flavored oak-kissed cherries. Very forward and immensely satisfying with a silky mouthfeel, the wine finishes with plenty of cherry goodness.
When tasted later in the day from a previously opened and re-corked bottle, the wine had further blossomed and offered a delightful charge of cherry and spice. Plenty of Pinot singing.”
