Mission Codename As crazy does
Today’s stupendous wine was made one of our wine heroes, Kirk Venge. The son of America’s first 100 point winemaker, Nils Venge, Kirk is a phenomenal winemaker in his own right.
All of Kirk’s wines are of the topmost in quality. Today’s Bacio Divino Cellars 2013 Pazzo is one of the best Kirk Venge wines we’ve tasted.
We’ve spent quite a bit of time chasing today’s winery. Agent Red chased them for, literally, years! We got close to selling a prior vintage of this amazing wine, but the winery sold out.
Our intrepid Red kept up the begging - and the winery finally came through with a small allocation of today’s truly extraordinary (we’re not being hyperbolic here, this wine is amazing) Calistoga red blend, the Bacio Divino Cellars 2013 Pazzo (Call Me Crazy) Red Wine.
Wow, what a nose! This wine leads with bold, dark blackberry compote, blueberry jam, cured meats, leather, spice, black cherry and subtle campfire.
Bold flavors explode onto the palate, with blackberry juice, plum jam, smoky cherry candy, leather, smoked meat, baking spice, dark chocolate, twigs, subtle graphite and subtle black pepper.
This rich, layered and deeply delicious wine is very highly recommended! Please come by and reserve yours soon. Our supply is limited.
Cheers!

Here’s what the wine press has to say:
90 points - Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast - “A Sangiovese-based blend named for the expression “Call me Crazy,” this wine also contains small amounts of Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Crazy or not, it works, providing a thicket of black and blue berry, smoky cinnamon and a juicy, medium build, meant to please, not to over-ponder.”
