Mission Codename The Case of the Golden Ant
“Wow! Readers may be sure I will be buying these wines for my own cellar.” –Robert Parker, Jr.
Today’s Altos Las Hormigas 2009 Vista Flores Malbec is a screaming steal of a deal at a stunning 66% off.
This is not a case of where an old wine goes to die. There is plenty of that on the web. We were offered this wine and negotiated a sweet price for taking all of it.
This Ultra QPR wine is truly great. Guaranteed!
Rich and dark on the nose, with aromas of blackberry & plum preserve, blueberry, red licorice, black licorice, pencil shavings, raspberry jelly, dried violet, sweet spice and a hint of black pepper.
Rich, dark and exploding with flavors of grilled cherry, blackberry preserve, darkly toasted oak, dried violet, leather, spice box, baker’s chocolate, black licorice, subtle savory herb, very subtle tobacco and a hint of white pepper at the very end.
This wine is a stunner, folks. At today’s price, you are getting an incredible value. Enjoy!

**What the wine press has to say:
Luis Gutierrez - Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate - “The 2009 Malbec Appellation Vista Flores is produced from 100% Malbec from Vista Flores in the Uco Valley. Malolactic was carried out in oak barrels, where the wine aged for 24 months.
This is a dark-colored, serious wine with reticent aromas that require coaxing to show ripe black fruit. The palate shows good integration of the wood, with supple tannins and juicy fruit, with the oak-inflicted flavors making a comeback in the slightly warm aftertaste. This is a big wine that would benefit from some more time in bottle. One of the last big wines in the old style from Alto las Hormigas.”
