Mission Codename Soaring higher
We’re excited to welcome Valle Secreto back to our pages, with the release of their signature red, the delectable Valle Secreto 2011 “Private Edition” Red Blend.
This wine is a blend of Syrah (55%), Cabernet Sauvignon (25%) and Carmenere (20%). This is a rich, layered, complex wine that our whole tasting panel adores!
Wow, what a powerful, inviting nose on this beauty! Grilled black cherry takes the lead, followed by aromas of smoked meat, mission fig, dried fall leaves, dried cranberry with subtle hints of cumin, coriander and cardamom.
Bold and delicious on the palate, with flavors of black cherry, grilled blackberry, smoked meat, dusty bramble, dried fall leaves, tobacco leaf, dried blueberry, spice box and a hint of grilled pimento.
The Valle Secreto vineyards are located in the foothills of the Andes Mountains in the Upper Cachapoal. This area enjoys what is arguably the country’s best environment for wine grape. Superior grape ripening is possible, given the idyllic climatic characteristics, with large temperature variation between day and night. Valle Sectreto’s vines are low-yielding and only the best of the best go into Alejandra Vallejo’s flagship Private blend.

91 points - Michael Schachner, Wine Enthusiast - “Spicy, mildly herbal aromas of cassis and red-berry fruits feed into a racy, fresh palate with vital acidity and excellent overall balance. Flavors of spice and berry fruits are persistent, while the finish is deep and feels right. This blend of Syrah, Cabernet and Carmenère is entirely pleasing. Drink through 2018.”
