Mission Codename Mining for Gold
If you want to know what serious Napa Valley Chardonnay is all about, you’ll grab a bunch of today’s Miner Family Winery 2014 Wild Yeast Napa Valley Chardonnay.
This wine is one of the most compelling, flavor-packed, silky smooth Chardonnay wines that we’ve come across. Stock up for the Fall, you won’t be disappointed.
Bold and very aromatic, with fragrances of yeasty, freshly baked brioche, lemon curd, lime flower, grilled pear, grilled fig, butter rum candy, subtle fennel frond and just a hint of white spice.
Rich flavors flow onto the palate, with orange peel, lemon, grilled pear, lime leaf, subtle white spice, green melon, guava, flint mineral, and grilled pineapple.
This wine was made by winemaker, Gary Brookman. Gary, who was winemaker for Joseph Phelps for 13 years, has spent the last two decades making elite-level wines that sell for more than $100.
Today’s Chardonnay is a real steal of a deal!
It is worth noting that Miner wines have been served to US presidents and heads of state for decades. Also, the Riedel Wine Glass Company exclusively uses Miner Family wines at its proprietary comparative glassware tasting events and at select events officially endorsed by the Riedel name in the United States.
We’re head over heels in love with this impressive Chardonnay and we offer it to you with our very enthusiastic recommendation.

Here’s what the wine press has to say:
92 points - Connoisseur’s Guide To California Wine - “As is often the case, Miner’s Chardonnay fermented with wild yeast is an intense and very complex wine whose plentiful fruit is laced with toasty spice, and it is made more interesting yet in this outing by suggestions of roasted nuts and a bare touch of dried orange peel.
The wine is mouth filling and supple with a touch of oily richness in feel, yet it is neither soft nor sluggish despite steering away from overt acid. It is rich, it is balanced and it is very long at the finish, and its minor suggestion of heat will be made moot by service with the flavorful foods that it so clearly requests.”

90 points - Ken’s Wine Guide - “This light yellow colored Chardonnay from Napa did well with the Panel. It opens with an inviting light pear and melon bouquet with hints of vanilla oak. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and round. The flavor profile is a light pear with notes of lemon verbena and minerality. We also detected hints of oak, walnut and white pepper in the background. The finish is dry and shows a little acidity and heat towards the end. The Panel suggested pairing this Chard with alfredo pasta with grilled chicken.”
