Ty me to the moon
Ty Caton’s wines have become some of our most popular. We’ve been featuring Ty’s wines for a decade now and it seems that his wines just keep getting better and better.
Today’s Ty Caton Vineyards 2015 Ty’s Red is Ty’s budget-minded flagship red blend. This wine is a masterful blend of Syrah (55%), Cabernet Sauvignon (36%), Petite Verdot (6%) and Merlot (3%).
This wine is super dense on the nose, with concentrated aromas of blackberry jam, black cherry, cassis, sweet tobacco, cedar, chocolate, dried fall leaves, toasty oak, subtle baking spice and super subtle cracked pepper.
This wine telegraphs rich, juicy flavors to the far corners of the palate, with blackberry preserve, black cherry reduction, cocoa nibs, cassis, blackberry tobacco, plum, toasty oak and subtle sweet spice.
Ty’s wines have been featured on Wine Spies nearly 30 times in these last 8+ years. We keep going back for more because we love his wines. This special treat, which hails from the Moon Mountain AVA is offered to you with our heartiest recommendation. The QPR (Quality to Price Ratio) for this wine is through the roof!
Tasting Profile
Look: | Beautiful, inky and dark, with deepest burgundy hues at the heart of the wine. At the edges, a fine ring of purple encircles the wine. |
---|---|
Smell: | Blackberry jam, black cherry, cassis, sweet tobacco, cedar, chocolate, dried fall leaves, toasty oak, subtle baking spice and super subtle cracked pepper. |
Taste: | Blackberry preserve, black cherry reduction, cocoa nibs, cassis, blackberry tobacco, plum, toasty oak and subtle sweet spice. |
Finish: | After a soft and sily entry, this wine gets quickly grippy as medium tannins dry the lips, cheeks and, eventually, the tongue. The result is a plush and elegant overall feel. |
Pairing: | This is a very food friendly wine. Flexible, too. Enjoy it with everything from a pile of sauce-drenched riblets to a grilled burger, your favorite steak, chicken or even pork dish. Or, for a real treat, simply enjoy a glass from start to finish, without any food. The wine is delicious in and of itself. |
