Mission Codename Out of the park
Winemaker Nils Venge is the first American winemaker to have garnered a perfect 100 point score. That was back in 1985, when Robert Parker gave Nils’ Groth Cabernet the score that would rocket Nils to winemaking stardom.
Nils continues his winning streak with today’s incredible 2014 Napa Valley Old Vine Zinfandel.
Today, we are delighted - and so very lucky! - to have Saddleback’s newest Zinfandel, their 2014 Napa Valley Old Vine Zinfandel. This wine, which is available today only at better than 25% off, is a big, rich, layered and super juicy wine that our entire tasting panel is simply gaga over.
This wine is resplendent on the nose, with dark aromas of black cherry, cherry tobacco, sweet oak, chocolate covered cherry, cassis, leather, sweet spice, pencil shavings and black pepper.
Opulent and darkly juicy on the palate, with braised black cherry, plum compote, blackberry preserve, graphite, toasty oak, baker’s chocolate, cherry cordial, vanilla, subtle spice and subtle tobacco.
Reserve yours soon as our allocation is modest - and expected to be very popular.
This wine is very VERY highly recommended!
Here’s what the wine press has to say:
95 points - James Suckling - “Aromas of blackberries, walnuts and light wet earth follow through to a full to medium body, light chocolate and a long finish. Refined and polished. Classic style. Better in 2019.”
