Mission Codename Spring Forward
Good day, and welcome to another Super Spy Sunday!
Each Sunday, I scour the wine world to find you a super high-end wine, making it available to you at the lowest price possible. Today’s wine is a 97 point beauty at a price that no Operative can resist.
This 2014 Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is a stupendous, don’t-miss wine…
This wine is silky smooth on entry, with flavors that present subtly at first… but then something magical happens. The wine settles onto the palate, presenting wonderful, elegant flavors. As flavors slowly fade, an all-around-the-palate dryness spreads, leaving a soft and elegant feeling.
Elegant and fresh on the nose, with aromas of roasted cherry, leather, soft spice, Bing cherry, sandalwood incense, cassis, subtle leather, cracked pepper.
Flavors on the palate are balanced between juicy and more earthbound, with blackberry jam, cherry, leather, soft spice, cassis, cherry bark, sandalwood, grilled plum and a hint of mineral rich black pepper.
Enjoy!

Here’s what the wine press has to say:
97 points - Brian Whitaker, Sommelier - “Ripe black fruits layered with blackberry, boysenberry, black cherry, black plum, mulberry, cocoa, anise, sage, and caramel. Rich tannins are apparent, however the wine enjoys a youthful soft mouthfeel with a long complex finish. Recommended Pairing: Grilled Skirt Steak with Chimichurri.”

96+ points - Chris Stanley, Certified Sommelier - “The 2014 Grand Napa Spring Mtn Cab is spectacular in it’s infancy. Dark black and blue Cabernet lovers will love the copious amounts of pure blackberry bliss….fresh blueberries, oozy black cassis, rich dark chocolate, graphite, and rocky earth. Some elegance and finesse in its youth, but it is rather sizable, big, round and finishing with modest amounts of sweet oak. Ultra-Primo!”
