Mission Codename First in Franc
Today’s wine is offered to you with our very boldest recommendation.
Yes! We scored a small allocation of Lang & Reed’s fantastic 2013 “Two-Fourteen” Cabernet Franc, a darkly delicious, elegant and incredibly incredible wine that we’re crazy about.
Lang & Reed are masters of Franc, and they’ve pulled out all the stops with this one. Experience their commitment in this special wine.
Lush and very fragrant, with bold aromas of black cherry, cranberry, pomegranate, Bing cherry, woodsy spice, red apple, rover rock and pencil shavings.
Dark, rich flavors of blackberry jam, grilled cherry, blueberry, spice, baked red apple, dried violet, graphite, river rock, cranberry and spice.
Cabernet Franc fans will adore this lush, elegant and boldly flavored wine, from the one of the varietals principal proponents, winemaker (and Franc legend), John Skupny. Over his first decade of living in the Napa Valley, John held executive positions at Caymus Vineyards, Clos Du Val Wine Company and the Niebaum-Coppola Estate (Inglenook).
In 1993, John set out to produce a Cabernet Franc that was ‘true to type’, redolent in aroma, and pure in flavor with, structure and balance. Nearly a quarter century has passed since then, and John has perfected California Cabernet Franc.
One sip of today’s wine and you’ll know what a real Franc should smell, feel and taste like.
Enjoy!
