Mission Codename Super Franc
Last year we featured an incredible Cabernet Franc from our relatively new friends at Auburn James. Our Agent Red, who seldom scores wines, gave that stellar Franc a super high 96 point score.
Today’s wine scored even higher, earning 97 points. This Auburn James 2009 North Coast Cabernet Franc is a masterpiece.
We love Cab Franc. This increasingly rare varietal is becoming harder and harder to find as a single-varietal wine. Franc is frequently used as a blending component, giving other wines a much needed boost.
This wine has a deep, full nose, with abundant aromas of cherry, blackberry, raspberry, chocolate covered cherry, cigar box, sweet spice subtle tobacco leaf, darkly, toasted oak and black tea.
Flavors cascade onto the palate, with concentrated flavors of blackberry, black cherry, blackberry tobacco, cedar, graphite, dry fall leaves, brown spice, black tea and a subtle hint of cracked peppercorn.
We hope that you love this wine as much our whole tasting panel did. We were all completely crazy over this rich, complex, delicious wine - and we hope that you’ll partake of this special opportunity to taste one of the best Cab Francs around.
This wine is very highly recommended!
