"Wirth" it's weight in gold
Our Operatives adore Joseph Jewell Wines, so Agent Red secured an allocation of their delectable 2014 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir.
This is a stupendous and delicious, classic Russian River wine with lovely fruit balanced against elegant elements of spice and earthiness. Fruits really come alive as you spin the wine in your glass. Please decant or swirl this wonderful wine for best results.
Joseph Jewell chooses the long and careful pathway from vineyard to your table. This elegant wine gets its fine ruby color from an extended 5 day cold soak. The ruby juice then moves on to rest in the finest French oak barrels - until the wine is ready to go to bottle. From there, it rests until it is ready to release to you.
Very fragrant and alive, with aromas of cherry bark, cherry cola, black cherry, pomegranate and mushroom greet the nose, followed by subtle spice, violets, cedar and a hint of cherry chocolate.
Flavors of black cherry, cassis, young blackberry, rose petal, cranberry, raspberry and soft spice lead to a nice, long finish with medium plush tannins and a dryness that slowly rolls across the palate.
This wine shines on its own, but is also a fantastic companion to a wide variety of foods. We heartily recommend you stock up for your upcoming dinner parties, and be sure to hold on to a few bottles for the next year or two.

90 points - Wine & Spirits - “Sourced from four sites including the dry-farmed Hallberg Vineyard in Green Valley, this lasts on the clean red cherry flavor of Russian River pinot noir picked at moderate ripeness. It shows some delicacy in a rose petal aroma and sandy tannins that focus the fruit. With a day of air, an alcohol warmth begins to show through, suggesting that it’s a pinot noir to drink on the young side, while it’s still juicy and ebullient.”
