Mission Codename Beauty or Beast?
Today only… and only while it lasts… we’re thrilled to share with you the incredible Yangarra Estate Vineyard 2013 McLaren Vale Shiraz.
This wine absolutely floored our entire tasting panel when we first sampled it. At the end of the tasting, we went back and polished off the entire bottle - and then opened another one…
This 95 point beast of a wine is big and bold and packed with flavor - but it is also a beauty, showing off a softer side. The feel of the wine is at first soft, but medium-big tannins grip the edges of the palate, spreading a crushed velvet dryness all around the mouth.
So, how is this wine?
Kaboom!
This wine transports you to another realm, with heady aromas of grilled steak melding with black cherry, black licorice, cassis, cured beef, smoked beef, tar, plum and subtle spice.
The palate is treated to a brilliant explosion of rich flavors, with stewed plum, smoky black cherry, grilled blueberry, black licorice, smoked meat, dried black cherry, mission fig, soft spice and black pepper.
Extra highly recommended, Operative! Accept this mission… You won’t be sorry!

Here’s what the wine press has to say:
96 points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion - “Deep but bright crimson-purple; this is full-bodied McLaren Vale shiraz at its very best, not the least extractive or clumsy, simply complex, the result of top quality fruit and highly intelligent winemaking.”
~
93 points - James Suckling - “An attractive, meaty, savory edge to this dense and concentrated shiraz, plenty of deep plum and fragrant spice on the nose, the palate delivers a supple twirling core of dark plum and black cherry fruit right through to a long and flavorsome, smoothly hewn finish. Deceptive power here.”
