Mission Codename Native Species
We have a real stunner for you today, a wine that is offered to you with our fullest recommendation.
Today’s limited-production Waxwing 2013 Flocchini Vineyard Sonoma Coast Syrah is another phenom from this brilliant little Sonoma County winery. This is a juicy, richly delicious wine that was made from grape that were picked a moderate brix levels, to ensure perfect fermentation - and brilliant finished wines.
What an awesome nose on this beauty! Aromas of blackberry preserve, molasses, grilled raisin, plum, anise, oak, black pepper, dried beef, cassis, subtle leaf smoke and baker’s chocolate.
This wine tastes every bit as dark, complex and delicious as it smells, with flavors of black plum, grilled fig, molasses, cured beef, anise, dark chocolate, subtle savory herbs and black pepper.
This wine is drinking beautifully now. Enjoy now through 2022. Maybe longer!

Here’s what the wine press has to say:
93 points - Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast - “This is a lovely, light-hearted yet complex 100% varietal wine that shows the beauty of a lighter touch and cooler climate. Cedar, herb and compost provide a wildness next to aromas of feral mushroom. Intriguing all the way around, this wine finishes in a burst of white pepper.”
