Mission Codename Adversity, Reward
With fruit sourced from the Windsor Oak Vineyard in the Chalk Hill AVA, today’s Vellichor 2015 “Mvua” Chalk Hill Viognier is one of the finest white wines we’ve shown in a long while.
Today’s price makes this ULTRA QPR (Quality to Price Ratio) wine is true steal. Be sure to have enough on hand for Summer… and beyond!
Beautiful on the nose with notes of floral, fruit and subtle earth. Leads with orange blossom, honeysuckle and white peach, then adds lychee, loquat, bosc pear, chalky earth and the most subtle hint of white spice.
Absolutely delightful and oh, so tasty on the palate, with yellow peach, orange blossom, lime flower, mixed citrus, honeydew melon, slate mineral and the softest possible hint of white spice.
The Windsor Oaks Vineyard, where today’s wine was born, spans 700+ acres on the border of the Russian River and Chalk Hill AVAs. The Viognier sourced from this vineyard comes from a higher elevation block of 500+ ft in the Chalk Hill AVA. Named for the “chalky” white soils of the region that contain volcanic ash, sand, and silty loam, Chalk Hill brings out the best in Rhône varietals and varietals that shine in the face of adversity.
This wine is VERY highly recommended.

Here’s what the wine press has to say:
90 points - Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast - “This robust white wine, 100% varietal, spent time only in stainless steel, allowing the pretty honeysuckle aromas to lift effortlessly to the nose. White fig, peach and a lick of salty stone are supported by crisp, bright acidity.”
