Mission Codename On the 5th day...
Because you love great Pinot Noir, we have a very special one for you today.
Today’s Watkins Family Winery 2013 Crinella Vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir comes from what is arguably the best spot for Pinot Noir in all of the Russian River Valley. The Crinella Vineyard produces truly remarkable fruit, from which our friend Randall Watkins (also of Bugay Winery fame) made magic.
Wonderfully aromatic and reminiscent of the nose found on old school high-end Russian River or Carneros Pinots. Aromas of black cherry, gunpowder, cola, wild strawberry, spice box, briar patch, rustic iron, graphite and subtle oak.
On the palate, this wine is bold but balanced, with flavors of black cherry, cranberry, baked rhubarb, gunpowder, pencil shavings, cola, pomegranate, bramble, black tea and subtle spice with a hint of cardamom.
The Crinella Estate Vineyard, which is located in Forestville in the Green Valley appellation, is home to 30 acres of heritage and Dijon clone Pinot Noir. These remarkable grapes were planted by the Crinella family back in 1999. The family continues to this day to farm some of the most sought after fruit in the region.
This wine is very highly recommended.
