Mission Codename Generalissimo O'Higgins?
Today’s 94 point wine, the Concha y Toro 2014 Cachapoal Valley Terrunyo Peumo Carmenere, is an incredible follow up to the 2011 that we sold out of earlier this year.
This 2014 is more rich and more distinctive - and just way more pleasurable on the nose and palate than previous vintages.
Winemaker Ignacio Recabarren has been producing hit after hit at Concha y Toro. His experience includes working a handful of vintages for legendary wineries around the world, including Château Maucaillou, Château Margaux, and Château Lafitte in France and the Morton Estate, Matua, and Cloudy Bay wineries in New Zealand.
Powerful and ripe on the nose with aromas of Damson plum, blackberry preserve, blueberry concentrate, spice box, leather, tobacco leaf, smoky black cherry, dark chocolate and graphite.
Lush and flavor-packed on the palate, with flavors of plum skin, blackberry juice, black cherry, spice box, cigar box, smoked mission fig, dark chocolate covered cherry and a hint of graphite.
We purchased every case that was available in the country. Once we sell out, this wine will be gone forever… so you would be very well advised to reserve yours very soon.
Enjoy!!

Here’s what the wine press has to say:
94 points - Wine & Spirits - “The warm 2014 season shows in this opulent and grand vintage of Terrunyo, with chocolate-rich tannins supporting herb and sweet cherry notes. If you’re patient, you’ll find that the wine starts to show a more complex face with time in the glass. With air, it unveils crunchy red fruit flavors, the tannins firm and spicy. This is a classic example of the variety, selected by winemaker Ignacio Recabarren from vines planted in the late 1980s in gravely clay soils on the northern bank of the Cachapoal River.”
