Today’s Derbes 2009 Russian River Valley “Les Pinots” was made by Cécile Lemerle-Derbès, who is the former winemaker of Opus One, Champagne Bollinger, Champagne Jacquart, Schug Carneros, Korbel and others. This prolific winemaker brings her decades of experience to her own wine label - and today’s awesome Pinot.
Dark and lush on the nose, with aromas of Black cherry, dusty black currant, vanillan, dried wild mushroom, clay, subtle tobacco, subtle spice and hint of cocoa dust. Rich and darkly lush on the palate, with flavors of Blackberry reduction, black cherry, mission fig, forest floor, wild mushroom, toasty oak and a hint of dark spice.
