Mission Codename DCV v. NV
Today’s special wine is very highly recommended - but also limited. Please reserve yours soon.
This Meadowcroft Wines 2014 Louvau Vineyard Dry Creek Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a steal of a deal, so don’t expect this one to last the day.
This big, bold, and darkly juicy beauty beats most Napa Cabs at this price point. Deeply aromatic, boldly juicy and solidly built, this 2014 is young, but ready to drink now. Be sure to save a few bottles, though, and see how it improves over the next decade or longer.
The Louvau Vineyard in the Dry Creek Valley was established in the late 1980s. Founder John Louvau believed this vineyard site to be perfect for growing grapes. He was not the first person to think this.
As he began to prepare the site for grape growing, John found a block of nearly 100-year-old vines beneath a tangle of raspberry bushes and weeds. The Louvau Vineyard has produced grapes for a select number of wineries, whose offerings from this vineyard have always been considered nothing short of outstanding.
This wine is opulent and full on the nose, with bold, bright fruits leading the charge. Bing Cherry, blackberry, blueberry jam and cassis meld with spice box, cocoa dust, tobacco, resin and very subtle savory herbs provide a lush, rounded experience.
Rich, dense flavors spill onto the palate, with bold blackberry, blueberry, raspberry and red currant in the lead. These give way to grilled plum, tobacco, twigs, sweet tobacco, mixed spice, chocolate covered cherry, baker’s chocolate and a hint of black pepper.
Enjoy!
