Mission Codename Heart of a Lion
Ideology wines are so hard to get that we haven’t seen them on our pages since 2014! Well, they’re back, and with one fantastic wine.
Their Ideology Cellars 2014 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is a dark, fruit-driven wine that our tasting panel went bonkers over. Stock up for the fall on this great steal of a deal.
Gorgeous on the nose, with aromas of black cherry, red plum, strawberry, pomegranate, violet, soft baking spice and subtle vanilla.
On the palate, this wine has a lovely richness, with flavors of black cherry, wild strawberry, boysenberry, wild mushroom, supple leather, subtle spice and a hint of dried thyme.
The Russian River Valley AVA in Sonoma county is particularly is known for exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, but, with enough sunlight exposure to aid ripening, Zinfandel also grows quite well here. This AVA was officially designated in 1983, but many of the wines in the region used the designation as early as the 1970s (early in California’s wine history) with many of the vines having been first planted in the early 1900s.
Enjoy this very highly recommended wine!

Here’s what the wine press has to say:
90 points - Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast - “This wine shows a preponderance of cardamom and rose petal aromas, remaining light and bright on the palate. Silky in texture, its fruit components tend toward crisp cherry and pomegranate, while the seasoning is black pepper-inflected.”
