Mission Codename Winner, winner, Pinot for dinner!
Mitch Cosentino (twice named our Winemaker of the Year), is back with his seductive, delicious, glass full of rubies pureCru Wines 2014 Carneros Pinot Noir. This wine is lively, aromatic, and so very tasty. If you’ve never tasted a pureCru wine, what are you waiting for? If you have, you’ve probably already ordered…
Mitch Cosentino calls this wine seductive and we can’t help but agree. On the nose, aromas of red currant, black cherry, and cranberry take the lead. These are followed closely by cherry bark, dried wild mushroom, summer forest, subtle spice, and a hint of dried orange peel. If the nose draws you in, it is the palate that closes the deal. This wine is wonderfully balanced on the palate, with bright fruits of cranberry, Rainier cherry, wild strawberry, and earthy flavors of forest floor, soft spice, and subtle oak.
Every year we recognize some of the best wines, wineries, and winemakers of the year. Mitch has the honor of being the only winemaker that has won two of our Winemaker of the Year awards.
Very very highly recommended! .
Here’s what the wine press has to say:
90 points - Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast - “Smoky and minty, this full-bodied effort shows grit and oak, with tannin on the back of the palate. That grittiness continues in a gravelly way in texture, rounded by strawberry and black tea.”
