Hurry! This wine will absolutely sell out!
Our friend, John Parker, offered us every last case of today’s bright, fresh, food fabulous Parker Wine 2014 Duvarita Vineyard Santa Barbara County Chardonnay. This wine hails from the same vineyard where Dragonette and Paul Lato both source Chardonnay grapes for their award-winning $60 Chards, for way less.
Really inviting on the nose, with aromas of fresh lemon, pineapple, Honeycrisp apple, guava, orange blossom, creamed honey and a subtle hint of white spice. Bright and very flavorful on the palate, with juicy flavors of Grannysmith apple, lime flower, lime leaf, lemon zest, dried orange peel, pineapple, soft white spice, vanilla and softly toasted oak.
The Sta. Rita Hills AVA, located within Santa Barbara County and almost entirely in the Santa Ynez Valley was established in 2001 and is considered one of California’s best regions for growing the Burgundian varietals of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay due to its cooler climate. The AVA’s weather is heavily influenced by cool coastal breezes and persistent Pacific fog. Just less than 200 acres in the AVA are under vine. Interestingly, the name of the appellation was changed from Santa Rita Hills to Sta. Rita Hills so as to not conflict with Chilean powerhouse winery Vina Santa Rita.
We hope that you manage to reserve some for yourself. This wine will never be seen again.
Here’s what the wine press has to say:
93 Points - Matt Kettmann, Wine Enthusiast - ”Plump tangerine, pink grapefruit and warmer tones of Gala apples show on the nose of this bottling from a vineyard that’s slightly northwest of the Sta. Rita Hills appellation. Rounder nectarine and apple flavors show on the sip that fattens up in the midpalate with poached Asian pear and popcorn, deftly leveled throughout with a zesty lemon-wedge touch.”
Pale citrine yellow with gemlike clarity throughout.
Fresh lemon, pineapple, Honeycrisp apple, guava, orange blossom, creamed honey and a subtle hint of white spice.
Grannysmith apple, lime flower, lime leaf, lemon zest, dried orange peel, pineapple, soft white spice, vanilla and softly toasted oak.
Exceptionally long, with fruit flavors that fade while spice, oak and zest remain attached to the edges of the palate - where they reside for a very long time. At the very end, when it does eventually come, the palate is left with a soft, plush dryness.
This is a quintessential Fall and Winter white, which means that it will pair beautifully with all of your dining choices, from creative and exotic appetizer courses to traditional meals.
