Mission Codename Ranch it up!
Our Operatives love the wines of McEvoy Ranch - and so do we! Today’s wine is the craziest deal you’ll ever likely see on this stupendous McEvoy Ranch 2014 The Evening Standard Pinot Noir Marin County California. This wine is juicy, balanced, elegant and delicious. Very highly recommended!
Very fragrant, fresh and balanced, with aromas of dried cherry, cranberry, savory herbs, summer forest, mushroom, violet and a delightful hint of pine tar. On the palate, bright flavors of young blackberry, cranberry, and Bing cherry lead the charge. These are closely followed by blood orange, dried tangerine peel, red plum, soft spice and a hint of slate minerality.
McEvoy’s winemaking team consists of the incredibly talented duo of Dr. Maurizio Castelli and Blake Yarger. Dr. Caselli is the pioneer who helped to create such renowned wines as Col d’Orcia’s Poggio al Vento Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, Mastrojanni’s Brunello Schiena d’asino and Poderi Boscarelli’s Vino Nobile.
Dr. Caselli has more than 40 years of experience in winemaking and consulting all over the world, including at the famed Badia a Coltibuono in Tuscany. Blake Yarger has spent the last seven years at McEvoy, overseeing wine production there in collaboration with Dr. Castelli.
