We’ve done it again, we’ve secured the newest vintage of one of Iron Horse Vineyards most prized bubblys, the elegant, refined and oh so delicious Iron Horse Vineyards 2013 Wedding Cuvee. This vintage carries an impressive 94 point score from Wine Enthusiast (December 2017 issue), which we learned of through our spies…

Inhale too deeply and little bubbles tickle your nose. A more gentle inhalation reveals soft aromas of lime, white raspberry, orange peel, grapefruit, brioche and a hint of nutmeg. As this wine cascades onto the palate, a plume of fine mousse expands, transporting flavors of Kafir lime flower, pink grapefruit, lychee, green apple, slate and very subtle white spice.

Serve with a wide range of foods or appetizers. We think that a Waldorf Salad or some thick crab cakes would be perfect. Whatever you choose, this bubbly is sure to play along nicely.

Iron Horse Vineyards, so named for the train stop in Sonoma’s Green Valley, is famous for adhering to the strict methode champenoise on its classic and delicious sparkling gems.

Sonoma County Green Valley AVA is located on the western edge of the Russian River Valley and is separately designated. Its cooler climate and distinct sandy soil is ideal for sparkling wine, as is exemplified in today’s featured wine. Today’s exceptional selection is a low-sugar masterpiece made from 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay estate grapes.

Cheers!!

Lime, white raspberry, orange peel, grapefruit, brioche and a hint of nutmeg.

Taste:

Kafir lime flower, pink grapefruit, lychee, green apple, slate and very subtle white spice.

After the mousse fades, flavors settle onto the palate. these remain in place for a long time, with fruits that are first to fade, followed by mineral and spice.

Pairing:

Pair with your favorite friends, family or romantic partner, hopefully, while celebrating an important milestone, like a new job, a marriage, anniversary… or just cuz.
