Mission Codename King of Chardonnay
Our entire tasting panel was blown away by today’s silky, flavor-packed Grgich Chardonnay! This wine was the best wine of the tasting, and each member of the panel celebrated its complexity, aromatics and deep flavors. If there is any left for us after our Operatives get their hands on it, we’ll all be stocking our personal cellars with this incredible wine.
How fast can you click that big red button, Operative? Today’s Grgich Hills Estate 2014 Napa Valley Estate Grown Chardonnay is one sexy, flavorful, silky and delicious wonder of a wine. Grgich has been an Operative favorite, dating back to the first time that we featured them in 2009. Their Chardonnay is among our best-selling.
Oh, that Grich fruit! The nose explodes with some of the most pleasing notes that you can imagine from a Chardonnay. This wine leads with richer, darker aromas of baked apple, hazelnut, vanilla, ripe yellow peach, pear, ataulfo mango, river rock, and subtle toasted oak. The palate? Again, that fruit! It shines on the palate, with baked Grannysmith apple, lemon curd, vanilla custard, lime leaf, Meyer lemon, pineapple, pear and subtle white pepper.

Here’s what the wine press has to say.
92 points - Wilfred Wong - “Complex and multi-faceted with lots to offer, the 2014 Grgich Hills Chardonnay is an outstanding effort. The wine’s richness and vitality on the palate pair it nicely with simply prepared shellfish.” (Tasted: September 26, 2017, San Francisco, CA)
