Mission Codename The Real Deal
Today’s 2012 Sonoma Valley Cabernet has won the Operative’s Choice award for Top Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon, beating out every other Sonoma Cabernet. This is our final wine of WIA17, and the final time that we’ll be showing this great wine, the rest of which is being retired to the winery’s private library.
Bright cherry, boysenberry are accompanied tart stone fruit reveal layers of plum. A garden herb character adds complexity to hold your interest. Characteristic to Deerfield wines is a soft tannin structure with a round mouthfeel that coats the palate, particularly the sides of the tongue, before crescendoing long after the initial sip. While Cabernet is the dominant player, the Malbec shines through with its black cherry notes. The Syrah that’s been added makes an appearance too, with a discernible white pepper nuance.
Deerfield has been a stalwart winery ally over the years, and we’re thrilled to be able to offer our Operatives a deal that they will not be able to find anywhere else. Robert Rex’s wines are always balanced, smooth and relatably delicious, which is why we’re always glad to be able to bring them our Operatives.
