The Ultimate Expression

Hurry! Today’s ample allocation of Antica Napa Valley 2013 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon will not last the day. We grabbed up every case that we could get our hands on, but a wine this superior is going to be a very hot seller. This is quintessential Napa Valley Cabernet, from delicious start to elegant finish.

So, just why is today’s wine so superb? Well, when you combine 26 generations of winemaking tradition and excellence, over nearly 3 centuries, with one of Napa Valley’s finest vineyards and one of this generations most exciting young winemaker, Melissa Apter Castro, you get magic in a bottle.

This wine is very fragrant on the nose, with aromas of black cherry, grilled blueberry, pie spice, plum, red currant, subtle caramel, toasty oak and black pepper. Bold and darkly juicy, with balanced flavors of black cherry compote, blackberry black tea, ripe blackberry, plum, baker’s chocolate, bramble, toasted oak and black pepper.

The finish is long, flavor-filled and very elegant.

630 Years of Winemaking Excellence

The Antinori’s family’s winemaking history has been synonymous with the famed wine growing regions of Tuscany and Umbria since its inception more than six centuries ago, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori entered the “Arte Fiorentina,” the Winemakers’ Guild of Florence, in 1385.

Today, the Antinori legacy is overseen by Piero Antinori and this three daughters, Albiera, Allegra, and Alessia. Together, they oversee one of the largest wine companies in Italy, and their innovations played a large part in the “Super-Tuscan” revolution of the 1970s. Antinori is a member of the Primum Familiae Vini. The company is the 10th oldest family-owned company in the world!

We’re sorry that we could not get more of this wine and we sincerely hope that you are able to partake of our offer.

Cheers!!

Here’s what the wine press has to say:

94 Points - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate - ”A beautifully elegant, stylish Cabernet Sauvignon from the Antinori outpost in Napa Valley, their 2013 has a dense ruby/purple color, a beautiful, sweet kiss of pure blackcurrant fruit, licorice and forest floor. Full-bodied, but with creamy texture, sweet, beautifully integrated acidity, tannin and alcohol, this is an impressively well-crafted wine that’s drinkable now, but should evolve nicely for another 15-20 years.”

94 Points - James Suckling - “Intriguing aromas of walnut, shiitake mushroom and dark fruits follow through to a full body, round and velvety tannins and a bright finish. A vivid and silky mouthfeel. Long finish. Drink or hold.”

94 Points - Wine Enthusiast - “Elegant and on the more austere side of the variety, this wine is graceful and complex. Tight-grained waves of cherry, cranberry and cassis marry well with its velvety texture and restrained use of oak.”

91 Points - Wine and Spirits Magazine - “Antinori’s 1,200-acre estate in the eastern hills of Napa includes 600 acres of vines, the reds planted on rocky soils at elevations that reach 1,800 feet, well above the fog line. The sunniness of the spot comes across in the initial scents of baked sour cherries and peaches, along with tough tannins that take days of air to relent. The mountain-grown tannins are less bitter 24 hours later, and with 48 hours, the fruit and tannins have bonded into a sour cherry and mineral weave, with the warm spice of the sunny days and the cool freshness of fruit preserved by nights at high elevation. Built to cellar.”
