Mission Codename Deliciously Different
The people of Collio region of Italy have been making wine from Fiulano since the 1600s, so they know what they’re doing. Fruilano is the best of both worlds: This wine has the lush mouthfeel and body of a Chardonnay, yet with the bright acid and fruit forward character of a Sauvignon Blanc.
The wine has a beautiful straw bale color with a peridot tint. Big notes of perfectly ripe Apple Delicious, with more subtle pear and honey. There’s beautiful floral aroma of elderflower and jasmine. On the palate: smooth and elegant stonefruit, fresh apricot, with tangerine citrus. A very interesting and refreshing peppermint greets the palate up front. Apple and pear can be found on the palate as well. The wine has an exceptionally smooth and rich mouthfeel, more like the body of a wine that underwent malolactic fermentation, like Chardonnay, yet it retains a wonderfully bright acidity. For an appertivo pair with proscuitto wrapped cataloupe for a refreshing start to a meal.
