Mission Codename Shiraz you are
Rejoice! Today’s Brothers In Arms 2012 Langhorne Creek Shiraz is a blissful explosion of fruit, earth and spice that we can’t help but rave about. This wine is packed with dark aromas and brilliant dark flavors that entice and excite the senses. This 94 point ( James Halliday) beauty is a stunner that you’ll want more of!
Full and very fragrant on the nose, with ripe blackberry, smoky black cherry, grilled blueberry, dried fig, dark spice, hard leather, black licorice, espresso bean and dark chocolate. This wine bursts onto the palate, with rich, dark flavors of Black cherry preserve, blackberry compote, plum, dark spice, black licorice, grilled cherry, molasses, subtle (tasty!) tar, and a hint of black pepper.
This wine hails from an estate whose first vines were planted back in 1891. Shiraz yields were tiny back then as compared to the total annual yield of about 700 tons today. The is one of Australia’s most respected Shiraz producers, and for good reason. Their wines are excellent. When we offered the very last cases of today’s great wine, we grabbed up every single case. That said, we will likely sell out before the end of the day.

Here’s what the wine press has to say.
94 Points - James Halliday - “Good crimson-purple; the aromas and flavours run across a complex array of red and black fruits, licorice, savoury tannins and good oak integration; the length and balance of the palate is its strongest point.”
90 Points - Robert Parker - “Deep garnet-purple in color and scented of spiced blackberries and black cherry compote with hints of cinnamon toast and pepper, the medium-bodied 2012 Brothers in Arms Shiraz is Estate grown and made using a high percentage of fruit from 100+ year old vines. On the palate it gives a solid core of expressive black fruit and baking spice flavors supported by medium levels of rounded tannins and just enough acid to hold through a finish with good persistence.”
91 Points - Wine Spectator - “Concentrated licorice, dried mint and espresso notes complement the core of brooding dark berry flavors. Velvety tannins add some traction on the finish. Drink now through 2020.”
International Wine Challenge - Gold Medal
Decanter World Wine Competition - Commendation
