Amphora is back, with another Worldwide Exclusive! That’s right, we’re the only wine merchant to be carrying today’s Amphora Winery 2013 Lakeville Vineyard Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. Our last Amphora offering was such a hit that we sold out. Be quick, Operative, and grab some while you still can. This wine will never be available again.
This Pinot has a beautiful magenta core, with a lip that turns more orange towards the meniscus. The aromatics are fragrant with lush red fruit, leather, quince, violets, strawberry and loquat. We have on the palate a rich ripe cherry backbone with baking spice, vanilla, floral hints and more tart cherry as the wine approaches the finish. This is a Pinot with developed chewy tannins that create an exceptionally long finish after the wine is swallowed. This Pinot is a bit richer and meatier - It would be a fun one for a Saturday afternoon lunch. Homemade pastrami sandwich anyone?
The Sonoma Coast AVA is the 750 square mile area with the Pacific ocean on its western boundary, the San Pablo Bay to the south and Mendocino County to the north, headed inland to the other designated AVAs in Sonoma County. The region is heavily influenced by the cooler ocean climate, increased rainfall and fog that lingers long on the coastal mountains. The specific climate suits the demanding Burgundian varietals of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay very well.
