We return to Australia’s Brothers In Arms, one of our most popular Australian wine brands, with their outstanding and budget-priced 2010 Formby & Adams Leading Horse Langhorne Creek Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is an Ultra QPR steal at today’s price, making it a great wine to stock up on for those nights where you want a big, rich drinking experience - without breaking the bank.

This wine hails from an estate whose first vines were planted back in 1891. Shiraz yields were tiny back then as compared to the total annual yield of about 700 tons today. The winery makes a wide range of wines, and when we were offered the final cases of this wine, we grabbed up every last one that we could get our hands on.

Ultra rich and very concentrated on the nose, with aromas of Ripe blackberry, dark spice, smoked beef, leather, darkly toasted oak, toasted licorice root, savory herbs and black pepper. On the palate, this wine is packed with flavor. Black cherry, grilled plum, blackberry preserve, dark spice, hard leather, cassis, dark chocolate, molasses, black pepper and a very slight hint of tomato stem.

We’ve come to really love the wines of winemaker Jim Urlwn. He makes the most interesting wines from some of the best grapes in Australia’s Langhorne Creek. We can’t wait to see what he makes for us next!
