2012 Master Red
California: Napa Valley
The Chocolate Factory
By now you’ve come to know the wines of Grand Napa. This winery has made more than 20 appearances on our pages since we first featured them in late 2015. Always, their wines are very popular and we field plenty of Operative requests for more.
Today’s Grand Napa Wine 2012 Master Red has our Agent Red so excited that he bought up every bottle that he could get his hands on. Don’t dally, though, a wine that is this good is certainly going to sell out.
Agent Red says of this wine, “I am absolutely crazy about today’s Grand Napa Wine 2012 Master Red. So much so that I gave the wine a score of 95 points. I don’t issue scores very often, but today’s wine was so good that I had to.”
This wine explodes with chocolate covered cherries! This wonderful aroma is followed, followed by more chocolate and more cherry. Also strawberry, red currant, blackberry jam, subtle spice and, you guessed it, more chocolate!
On the palate, this wine bursts forth with bold, juicy black cherry and blackberry, with briar, braised plum, baker’s chocolate, spice box, subtle tobacco and a hint of white pepper.
The Cab and Cab Franc provide the perfect balance, with the Franc giving the wine a juicy brightness that makes the wine a food-pairing champion.
Please enjoy this wine, which Agent Red awarded a stellar 95 points, with our boldest recommendation.
Gorgeous, translucent ruby red, with a bouncy surface that settles quickly after swirling the wine. Tall, skinny, wine-colored droplets move swiftly down the glass wall.
Chocolate covered cherry, blackberry jam, strawberry, red currant, subtle spice, and more chocolate!
Black cherry, and blackberry, with briar, braised plum, baker’s chocolate, spice box, subtle tobacco, and a hint of white pepper.
Very long and very flavorful, with berry fruit and spice fading to an intriguing, final chocolate and white pepper note.
Enjoy this very flexible wine with everything from roasted beef, lamb, wild game, duck, and pasta with a meaty red sauce.
Agent Red says that he’ll be trying this wine with Swedish meatballs and a cheesy pasta.
