Mission Codename 99% chance of wine
We’re thrilled to welcome Seven Hills Winery to our ever-growing roster (we’ve been at this for eleven years now!) of spectacular wineries. Today we proudly present Seven Hills’ uber-value, Super QPR (Quality to Price Ratio) 2014 Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. This is serious budget Columbia Valley Cab at its finest.
Founded in 1988, Seven Hills Winery is one of Washington State’s oldest and most respected wineries. Fourth generation farmer, Casey McClellan, leads growing and winemaking. His focus is on Bordeaux-varietal red wines has led to making Seven Hills a more prolific creator of vineyard designate Cabernet and Merlot from Walla Walla than any other winery.
Today’s Cabernet has a dark, dense core of garnet hue which leads to a ruby red lip at the edge of the glass. It may take time to unpack the dense bouquet of aromas found on the nose. Among them, you may discern blackberry and plum compote, black currant, jasmine, and allspice. On the palate, the wine has an earthy quality not revealed on the nose, with additional flavors of cherry pie, plum liquor, tree bark with pomegranate and black pepper toward the finish. Columbia Valley in Washington produces some serious Cabs and this is a great example. Structured from smooth start to long finish. This wine begs for red meat and you won’t go wrong with a medium-rare flank steak with a fresh chimichurri dressing.
