The Uncommon coast
Today’s special wine (read below) is offered to you with our boldest recommendation. Unfortunately, we don’t have very much left, so please do reserve yours soon.
We’re super excited today to be featuring our first ever (in our 11 years!) Chilean white wine. And not just any white wine, but the Super QPR from Estampa, their 2017 Del Viento D.O. Paredones Colchagua Costa Chile Sauvignon Blanc. This wine hails from the coastal Paredones appellation, which is very uncommon…
There are very few wineries that offer wines from the coastal Paredones appellation. In fact, it was Viña Estampa that pioneered the region by being the first to plant grapes here. The cold climate and marine influence here had a considerable effect on today’s wine, giving it a distinctive profile and a fresh crispness that is unequaled.
This Sauvignon Blanc has crystal clear clarity and a pale straw hue. The wine has a varietally-correct nose, bursting with fresh mango, papaya, and apple with a spicy backing of jalapeno. It’s refreshing on the palate as well, with notes of quince, loquat, peach, chile pepper, and straw. The wine is very light-bodied, making for an approachable and refreshing drink, perfect for a hot day. This SB would be perfect to kick off a Thai meal that starts with some shrimp fresh rolls with Thai basil.
