Mission Codename Triumphant Triumvirate
It has been three long years since Comptche Ridge graced our pages. That vintage of today’s wine was one of the most popular Pinots of that year. Our Operatives were absolutely crazy about Comptche, and we expect this wine to sell out. Do you recognize the Comptche vineyard name? Anthill Winery makes a high-scoring Comptche Vineyard Pinot for around $65.
Today’s wine is an exceptional value.
This Pinot Noir is a bright ruby red with an even gradient to a brick lip with medium clarity. Up front, there’s a nice clean nose of baking spice, raspberry and marmalade, a bit of violet and an extremely alluring spiced peach pie note. The palate is fresh too, with big cherry and concord grape flavors complimented by that same intriguing autumn seasoning. Here too are flavors of honeysuckle and pomegranate. It’s a light-bodied and extremely smooth wine that enters and exits the palate effortlessly, leaving behind a pleasant raspberry note on the center of the tongue. This chameleon could go with almost any dish you throw at it. How about a medley of tamales, from pork and cheese to sweet pumpkin?
This wine was made by Winemakers Anthony Filiberti, Webster Marquez and David Low, who honed their craft at Bergstrom Winery in Newberg, Oregon, Hafner Vineyards in the Alexander Valley, and at Williams Selyem and Papapietro Perry.
Enjoy!
