Winemaker Patrick Saboe has made wine at a handful of respected wineries, including Verismo, Keller Estate, Petroni and Pezzi King. His skills shine through in today’s darkly delicious treat.
The 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon vintage won a nearly unbeatable 99 point score by Wine Spectator Magazine’s editor in chief, James Laube. Others in the wine press heralded the vintage one of the best on record - in more than a decade. We wholeheartedly agree. Today’s wine is one of the last 2010s - at the best price you’ll find!
This Cab has nice deep garnet color with only a thin ring of ruby around the outermost edge. Fall in love right away when you inhale the beautiful nose that screams “Napa Cab” with plum, currant, tobacco, sweet cigar box, dried rose petals, sandalwood, and dried cherries. The palate is equally lush with a barrel spice profile that drives it with gingerbread and nutmeg, plum compote, honeysuckle and sun-ripe bing cherry. This is a very complex wine with tannins that are grippy at the very tip of the tongue, which soften and smooth out as they crest backward toward the soft palate for a long and decadent finish. Sometimes a large pan-seared sea scallop drenched in butter calls for a Cabernet. This is the one for the job.
