Mission Codename The Cracker Jack Kid
If only we could tell you where the grapes in today’s wine was sourced. We’ve been sworn to secrecy on this one. Just know that today’s 2016 Treasure Hunter Five-Second Rule Alexander Valley Sonoma County Petite Sirah is a bold, complex and delightfully complicated wine that drinks well above its price class.
We’re going to let you in on a wine industry secret. Sometimes the most prestigious wineries sell off excess wine to wineries (like today’s!) that purchase the juice, bottle it, and sell it under their own label. We can’t tell you where today’s superior wine came from - but we can tell you that you are stealing it at today’s price!
This Petite Sirah unsurprisingly has deep color with a heart of garnet that’s almost black with a thin ring of magenta around the outermost edge. The nose is extremely complex and enticing with notes of lilac, caramel, apple, bergamot and sandalwood. The palate is austere with stark fruit flavor of spiced plum, pomegranate, guava with accompanying notes of cedar and subtle barnyard. Like most Petite Sirahs the tannins are bold and impactful. You are rewarded with a layered drinking experience extending into a long finish with surprising twists. You definitely want a meal that will stack up to this intense wine. A flame-licked barbecued chicken breast seasoned with Caribbean jerk spices will do the trick.
We have a really good guess about who actually made this wonderful wine, but we’re not even allowed to tell you that! Once a spy has been sworn to secrecy, well, you know…
These Treasure Hunter wines are akin to buying an inexpensive box of Cracker Jack and finding a prize inside - but instead of a disappointing trinket, you find actual treasure! Treasure Hunter covertly buys wine from some of the world’s best producers and then makes them available at an insanely great price.
