Mission Codename Guess who's back
We’ve got a very special treat for you, today, dear Operative! Today we’re thrilled to bring you the comeback wine of the decade, from winemaker Sage Wightman IV, who spent many several years making high-end Howell Mountain Napa Cabernet, but then sold his vineyard and winery.
Today’s 96 point treat, the Orrin-Sage 2015 Sonoma Mountain Chardonnay marks Sage’s triumphant return to winemaking. This fragrant, delicious wine is an elegant treat that delivers incredible value at our special sale price.
With its gemlike clarity and golden hue, this Chardonnay calls topaz to mind. It’s got a complex and fragrant bouquet with interesting notes of cannabis and cola, butterscotch, lilac, and apricot. Wow! The sur lees quality is very nuanced and subtle with a note of toasted granola and fig. There’s also quince, marmalade, and persimmon. It skews more to the leaner style of Chardonnay, but is well-balanced with barrel oak nuance as well as a soft mouthfeel, while still offering acidity that serves as a counterpoint. This would be a wonderful accompaniment to a classic Southern seafood gumbo with plenty of shrimp.
Don’t miss out on this very special opportunity to taste winemaking history.

Here’s what the wine press has to say.
96 Points - Jay Smith - _“This gorgeous Chardonnay is a marvelous bottling that was sired from an incr
edible vineyard source. The wine begins with aromatics of poached pear, ripe nectarines, heavy whipping cream and a touch of sweet vanilla. There are dense flavors of candied citrus, ripe pineapple, lemon meringue and crème brulee that toy with the subtle minerality. This is just an awesome value at this price”_
