Bodkin Wines winemaker Chris Christiansen has garnered so much respect, so much praise, from the wine press and from wine enthusiasts alike and we are very excited to be sharing today’s special Bodkin Wines 2014 Peaceland Vineyards Mayacama Mountains Sonoma County Zinfandel with you today.

This Zin is a deep garnet at the center with a ruby lip and ever-so-faint fuschia tint at the outermost edge. The nose has huge bramble and allspice aromas which smoothly segue into boysenberry and blackberry fruit notes and finally reveals the caramel and butterscotch notes towards the finish. Well-integrated flavors of leather and blackberry abound on the palate. Also found are notes of maraschino cherry, plum compote, hibiscus, and red peppercorn. The mouthfeel is well rounded with soft tannin and balanced alcohol that drive the fruit upwards on the palate for a long finish. This classic Zinfandel would be best served with BBQ such as a hefty cut of tri-tip with Santa Maria seasoning.
