Don’t be deterred by the offbeat label. The juice inside this bottle is serious stuff indeed. Syrah lovers will feel the Force running through this one.

This special wine is the only wine that Deerfield makes from 100% Estate fruit. This gives winemaker Robert Rex complete control of the wine, from vineyard to bottle. Every step in the winemaking process was under Robert’s watchful eye, making this wine a very special treat indeed for our Deerfield fans.

This Syrah has a pleasing translucency, allowing light to pass through the ruby-red body. The nose is aromatic and lush with Syrah’s hallmark white pepper and additional notes of plum compote, sandalwood, barrel spice, and rhubarb. The pepper comes through on the palate as well where it encounters other flavors like blueberry, cherry, leather, tobacco, and diatomaceous earth. As with all of Robert Rex’s wines, this Syrah is very well-balanced, drawing from a structured tannin backbone that sits mostly on the center of the tongue. This wine would do well with sweet and savory favorites such as a Moroccan classic like lamb on a bed of saffron couscous with golden raisins.
