Happy Friday, dear Operative! As we head into the weekend, our thoughts turn to Rosé. And today we have a real doozy of a Rosé, just for you. Today’s Kobler Estate Winery 2017 Russian River Valley Rosé of Syrah is one of the prettiest and tastiest that we’ve sampled this year. This 93 point (WE) wine is a Super QPR steal!

This is a crystalline rosé with that perfect shade of pink that winemakers strive to perfect. Hugely fragrant, it fills the nose with tropical fruit with mango, lychee, banana, guava with some marmalade quality on the back end. Berry flavor gets thrown in the mix on the palate with juicy raspberry and strawberry meeting the guava and pineapple in the middle. There’s a nice honeysuckle floral note as well. It’s got a supple mouthfeel that’s light yet rich, coating the tongue and cheeks and carrying the fruit long into the finish. A fresh aperitif of cantaloupe and blueberries drizzled with homemade lavender-infused simple syrup.

We’re going to let you in on a little secret. Kobler spends a ton of money making their wines - yet they sell them at prices that are accessible to most luxury wine drinkers. They spare no expense on fruit, barrels, and everything else that goes into making great wine. Why do they undercharge for their wines? This is how a great winery establishes itself.
