South of Melbourne, Australia, in the Tasman Sea, the island state of Tasmania makes some of the most interesting Pinot Noir that the wine world hardly even knows about. Like wine growing regions in Europe, Tasmania has a cool climate and the potential to make distinctly different wines than in the rest of Australia. The area grows primarily Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon blanc.
On the nose, this wine shows off loads of aromas. In the lead, you’ll find dried wild mushroom, cassis, and black cherry. These are followed by dark spice, clay pot, red licorice, bramble and a hint of black tea. After inhaling this wine, sampling its complex nose, this wine surprised us on the palate, with bright flavors of cherry, boysenberry, dried mission fig up front, followed by clay pot, raisin, dark spice, and bramble, with a hint of cardamom.

90 Points - Josh Raynolds, Vinous - ”Limpid red. Spicy, energetic and focused on the nose, displaying fresh red berry and candied rose scents that open up and deepen with aeration. Taut, sappy and subtly sweet on the palate, offering bitter cherry and redcurrant flavors plus a touch of spicecake. In a restrained, elegant style, showing no excess fat. Smooth, sneaky tannins frame the fruit on the persistent, spicy finish.”
Light ruby hues with even coloration from core to edge.

This wine has a dynamic finish that starts sweet and bright, then drying at the edges of the palate.
