Peterson 2016 Estate Grown Dry Creek Valley "V3" White Wine Blend

Mission Codename The Vs Have It

We’ve been showcasing the wines of Peterson Winery for more than a decade, now. The wines are so consistently strong that we can’t help but keep going back for more.

The last time we showcased a Peterson Winery wine, we got so much traffic that they broke our site! Don’t worry, if you missed out, we’ve got you covered for today’s exceptional 2016 Estate Grown Dry Creek Valley “V3” White Wine Blend. This flavorful, aromatic treat is surprisingly crisp and refreshing.

This white blend has crystalline clarity with a bright golden hue like a ray of sunshine peeking out from behind a cloud. The nose has the complex character you might expect from a blend with candied quince, salt water taffy, pear, caramel, and honeysuckle. The palate is bursting with fresh fruit with apple, Bartlett pear, yellow plum as well as notes of buttercream and elderflower. With such rich flavors and aromas, it’s surprising that it is nice and dry on the palate with crisp, cooling acidity. Very fun and easy. Its liveliness would pep up a chilled whitefish ceviche with plenty of lemon.

This wine is a blend of 44% Vermentino, with 29% Vernaccia and 27% Verdelho. The wine hails from the family’s fabled Bradford Mountain Estate Vineyard, where their best wines (in our covert opinions) are born!

Grower Fred Peterson has been growing grapes and making Peterson wines in California for the last quarter century. Fred’s son, Jamie, literally grew up in the winery, shadowing his father and learning the craft from a very young age. Fred, who now focuses on growing, has handed the winemaking over to Jamie who, for the last several vintages, has been crafting one remarkable and delicious Peterson wine after another.

The Dry Creek Valley AVA in northeastern Sonoma County (north of Healdsburg) is somewhat warmer and wetter than the Russian River Valley AVA region just to the south and the Alexander Valley AVA just to the east. This warmer, wetter, climate provides great versatility with regard to the types of grapes that can be effectively cultivated in the region.
