Mission Codename The Speedy Shall Win
Today’s wine is another beautiful example of the winemaking prowess of Coho Wines, and the Pinot-perfect terroir of the Los Carneros winegrowing region. This is one delicious and beautiful wine.
In the event that we sell out of today’s exceptional Coho Wines 2015 Stanly Ranch Los Carneros Pinot Noir, we apologize. This is a wine that is strictly limited to those on the winery’s private allocation list - unless you are a Wine Spies Operative. A speedy Wine Spies operative, to be precise. Very limited, so please hurry…
This Pinot Noir is surprisingly dense with a deep maroon hue. The nose is rich and fragrant with gingerbread and molasses notes. The fruit component is like candied fig and plum compote. There’s also a subtle persimmon/pumpkin note. The nose is rich and fragrant with gingerbread and molasses notes. The fruit component is like candied fig and plum compote. There’s also a subtle persimmon/pumpkin note. Its’ weight gives it more gravitas than your typical Pinot and offers a more robust mouthfeel than most. Yet the tannins are still lush and silky smooth. This could stand up to a heavier dish such as beef bourguignon.
The Carneros AVA (American Viticultural Area) which was officially designated in 1983, and straddles Sonoma and Napa Counties, is the cradle of California Pinot Noir.
