Codename:

Sage Wisdom

Winemaker Sage Wightman IV continues his remarkable comeback with his very special, Ultra QPR (Quality to Price Ratio) Orrin Sage 2016 Napa Valley Chardonnay. This wine was an instant hit with our tasting panel. Each member of the panel went on and on about the vibrant, balanced qualities of the wine. Chardonnay lovers, don’t miss out…

This Chardonnay boasts a beautiful shade of light gold with perfect clarity. The sur lees quality is powerful but just spend some time with it and you’ll be rewarded with a bouquet with apple, apricot, pear, and vanilla bean. The palate is where the wine really shines, with flavors of guava, papaya, marmalade, peach, and buttered popcorn. The wine is very well balanced with cooling acidity perfectly matching the soft barrel tannin that rounds it out. It would be simply divine paired alongside a wedge salad of iceberg lettuce, creamy bleu cheese dressing topped with toasted walnuts.

Winery owner Sage Wightman IV spent several years making high-end Howell Mountain Napa Cabernet. He sold his vineyard and winery and left the wine trade - until making his victorious comeback with his namesake Orrin Sage Winery, which focuses on Burgundian varietals of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. His winemaking associate Justin Harmon is also a man of pedigree and talent. Justin developed his winemaking chops under the supervision of California Cult wine legend, Russell Bevan.

We’ve become big fans of Orrin Sage wines - and so have our Operatives. Our last Orrin Sage sale marked one of our most brisk Chardonnay sales of the year!

Enjoy…
