Mission Codename The Caw of the Wild
In the two short years that we’ve been showcasing the wines of Croze, we here at Wine Spies HQ have become huge fans. Croze wines deliver serious quality and because we’re so friendly with them, we’re able to sell you some of their wines at really great prices. Today’s wine marks one of the best wines - and the best deals - we’ve ever had from this great winery.
Welcome to our freshest Super Spy Sunday, where each Sunday we endeavor to bring you a fantastic wine - at a super low price. Today’s steal is the rich and concentrated Croze 2016 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, a wine that knocked our spy socks right off our feet. Enjoy now through 2025!
In the glass, this Napa Cab has an inky black core with a bright lip of purple at the meniscus. You’ll find a very clean, somewhat astringent nose, with dried rose petals, sandalwood and cigar box spice, with subtle black currant, and genmai cha. The palate is very rich with fresh black plum, leather, pipe tobacco, dark chocolate, anise seed pod, and savory herbs. Incredibly smooth and balanced, the tannins coat the lips and the center of the tongue, giving it a bearhug resulting in an astoundingly long finish. A hearty meat lasagna with robust tomato sauce and a heaping of cheese would be most welcome alongside this impressive wine.
The Napa Valley AVA (American Viticultural Area) is located in Napa County, California, United States. Napa Valley is considered one of the foremost wine regions in the world. Wine grapes thrive here, due to the combination of geography, the Mediterranean climate and geology of the region, which are perfect for wine grape growing. The region was established as a wine-growing region with its first commercial vineyard, which was planted in 1858.
