Mission Briefing
The Juice is Loose
Welcome to our Super Spy Sunday blowout special - on a very special wine.
Today’s Enos Vineyards 2013 Estate Dry Creek Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is dark, juicy, aromatic and incredibly delicious. This elegant wine is loaded with dark fruit, spice, and earthy goodness.
Quantity is limited - and at this price, we expect to sell out.
We’re enamored with the wines of Daniel Fitzgerald, who perfected his craft at legendary California wineries Williams Selyem and Robert Sinskey Vineyards. Today’s wine is the best Cab that we’ve featured from this Wine Spies favorite winemaker.
Today’s wine is dark and richly layered on the nose, with blackberry preserve, sweet tobacco, hard leather, cocoa powder, cassis, chocolate covered cherry, spice box, and a hint of cracked pepper.
On the palate, the wine is darkly juicy up front, with blackberry jam, black cherry, baking spice and red licorice with follow-on flavors of leather, cocoa powder, dusty bramble, toasty oak and vanilla, with subtle cracked pepper at the tail end.
Quantity is limited, so please reserve yours soon…
Here’s what the wine press has to say:
91 points - Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast - “From a five-acre benchland vineyard, this elegant red is sharp with acidity and a full-sized tannic grip that softens in the glass. Oak-derived flavors blanket its black cherry fruit, with distinct leather and black pepper accents.”
Tasting Profile
Look: | Dark purple at the core of the wine, darkest ruby at the edges. |
---|---|
Smell: | Blackberry preserve, sweet tobacco, hard leather, cocoa powder, cassis, chocolate covered cherry, spice box and a hint of cracked pepper. |
Taste: | Blackberry jam, black cherry, baking spice, red licorice, leather, cocoa powder, dusty bramble, toasty oak, vanilla and subtle cracked pepper. |
Finish: | Super long, with fruits that are sustained throughout the entire experience. After a silky entry, this wine becomes gradually grippy, softly chewy, and gradually drying. |
Pairing: | A wine this bold and juicy begs to be paired with a Japanese-style marinated steak, with a marinade of miso, Mirin, and sake. Add some ground pepper, garlic and ginger in the final minutes of cooking for some added zing. |
