Grgich Hills Estate

Zinfandel
California: Napa Valley
Mission Briefing
Zin it to win it
In 1976, Mike Grgich rocked the wine world by creating a California Chardonnay that beat out French Chardonnays in the now famous Judgment of Paris. The French were outraged, and Mike Grgich earned the respect of wine drinkers and critics, worldwide. Today, Mike continues to oversee the production of what has been heralded as “the finest wines in the world”.
We are very proud to be able to bring you the newest vintage of the fantastic Grgich Hills Estate Napa Valley Zinfandel.
With the exception of the 2010 vintage, we’ve featured every successive vintage of today’s wine, from the 2006 vintage to today’s Grgich Hills Estate 2013 Napa Valley Estate Grown Zinfandel. We must say that every vintage is unique - and special in its own right. This wine is rich, hearty, and very food friendly.
Today’s wine is serious and inviting on the nose, with aromas of plum, cherry bark, plum skin, black cherry, soft spice, candied cherry, and soft black pepper. Dark and rich on the palate, with flavors of stewed black fruit of plum, black cherry, and blackberry. Behind these, cocoa, spice box, dried black currant, dried fall leaves, bramble, and black pepper.
The Napa Valley AVA (American Viticultural Area) is located in Napa County, California, United States. Napa Valley is considered one of the foremost wine regions in the world. Wine grapes thrive here, due to the combination of geography, the Mediterranean climate, and geology of the region, which are perfect for wine grape growing. The region was established as a wine-growing region with its first commercial vineyard, which was planted in 1858.
