Mission Codename Red Kong
Deerfield Alert: Today’s Super QPR (Quality to Price Ratio) wine was produced at Deerfield Ranch Winery. This wine is a really superb Dry Creek Valley blend, offering the best that this region has to offer.
Happy Day, Operative! We have a doozy of a red blend for you, today. Today’s Bruce Patch Wines 2016 ‘Equanimity’ Coffaro Vineyard ~ Dry Creek Valley Red Wine was made at Deerfield Ranch Winery. This wine is alluring and oh so delectable. It has all of the hallmarks of a great Dry Creek Wine. Fruit is front and center. Aromas are through the roof.
This wine is lovely to behold with a night-sky dark center with a lip of bright magenta. The nose is alluring, with creme brulee and vanilla barrel notes up front, transitioning to holiday spice before revealing delicious fruit aromas of freshly picked blackberries and raspberries. Yum! Equally luscious on the palate as well, with layers of boysenberry, maraschino cherry, leather, toffee, and potpourri. Just a perfect construction with robust tannin that doesn’t overpower, with fruit and alcohol to match. An easy crowd-pleaser from start to finish. Authentic Italian is called for, such as homemade Maltagliati pasta with a Pepperonata sauce.
The Dry Creek Valley AVA in northeastern Sonoma (north of Healdsburg) County is somewhat warmer and wetter than the neighboring Russian River Valley AVA region just to the south, and the Alexander Valley AVA just to the east. The warmer and wetter climate provides great versatility with regard to the types of grapes that can be effectively cultivated in the region.
